Geographic Information Systems/Global Positioning Systems (GIS/GPS)

Geographic information systems (GIS) are a group of powerful database driven tools used for automated mapping and facility management. The Civil Engineering Department is prepared to assist you in upgrading and consolidating your existing CADD based system to a new GIS system or supporting your efforts to add to your existing GIS system.

  • Procurement of aerial surveys and linework of existing assets
  • Recommendations for software and hardware
  • Mapping: electric, gas, water, wastewater, transportation, stormwater, and fiber
  • Geodatabase creation and data conversion (CADD to GIS)
  • Field verification of existing utility data
  • Creation of map books and online maps
