Representative Projects:

  • KCP&L Company, Sibley Generating Station, Sibley, Missouri
This project added an extension to the existing hydraulic vacuum ash system to remove ash from new LPA hoppers that were added with the Unit 3 SCR addition. This project also relocated existing hydroveyor and ash water separator equipment to a location closer to the new LPA hoppers to improve access.

  • Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc., New Madrid Power Plant, New Madrid, Missouri
Sega Inc. replaced one of the original fly ash dry vented unloading chutes with a fly ash batch conditioning system for mixing water with fly ash to allow hauling conditioned fly ash in open dump trucks to a  landfill facility. Sega Inc. also designed modifications to existing flat-bottomed fly ash silos to eliminate areas where fly ash could accumulate (fire potential due to unburned carbon levels from cyclone boilers) and to improve fly ash removal by gravity.

  • University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri
Sega Inc. prepared a study and procurement specifications for upgrades to existing boilers 7-10′s ash handling systems.

  • City Utilities of Springfield, James River Station, Springfield, Missouri
This EPC project converted the original hydraulic vacuum systems that sluiced all fly ash to pond to a dry vacuum removal and conveying system with new elevated storage silos, including wet and dry unloading capability.

  • Independence Power & Light, Blue Valley Station, Independence, Missouri
Sega Inc. upgraded existing pneumatic vacuum-pressure fly ash system to improve fly ash removal and collection by replacing original fly ash removal equipment at the transfer tank with new improved combination filter separator equipment and vent filter.

  • KCP&L Company, La Cygne Generating Station, La Cygne, Kansas
This project was a wet-to-dry ash modification. Sega Inc. replaced the original slag tank and jet pumps to dewatering bins with submerged flight ash conveyors and new belt conveyors to transport bottom ash (slag) to new remote storage bunker at grade. This project also eliminated 20 foot deep pit under boiler and high pressure ash water pumps. Sega Inc. designed a consolidated control system for bottom ash system and belt conveyors, including fabrication of new control panel with HMI.

  • PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, Charles R. Lowman Power Plant, Leroy, Alabama
Sega Inc. prepared the EPC specification for Owner, including new fly ash vacuum branch lines to existing fly ash system, on the Unit 1 ESP Hot-to-Cold side conversion.
