Sega employee named "Outstanding Engineer" of the Year

Overland Park, KS (April 23, 2009) – Sega Inc. employee, Kirk J. Duncan, was recently presented with the “Outstanding Engineer 2009 Award” from the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Kansas City chapter.

Duncan was nominated and won this award because of his “significant contributions to the continued success of the PES chapter in Kansas City,” said Gary Engmann, IEEE Fellow and Vice Chair in the Kansas City chapter of PES.

Duncan has volunteered countless hours to the IEEE PES Kansas City Chapter. He coordinated the IEEE-KC Section Science Fair awards and is currently helping plan, coordinate and host the PES Substations Committee meeting in Kansas City this May. Duncan has been an active member of IEEE for 25 years. He has served as the Kansas City Section Secretary, PES Kansas City Vice-Chair, Chair and currently holds the Treasurer position.

Duncan graduated from Kansas State University with his BSEE in 1987 and received his MSEE from the University of Kansas in 1997. His experience ranges from electric utility through consulting to equipment sales. However, his specialty focuses on the electric substation under various roles: Design Engineer, Project Manager, Regional Sales Manager, and Relay and Control Supervisor. He currently works at Sega Inc. as a Manager of Business Development and is a licensed Professional Engineer in six states.

The “Outstanding Engineer” award is not given each year; it is only given if there is a qualified candidate, said Engmann. Each chapter of the PES gives its own award. Duncan won the Kansas City chapter award, which includes parts of Kansas, Missouri and Iowa.
